Will not boot Mandrake 9.2 iso please help

I have burned the iso to a cd and set the BIOS to boot from the cd.
The problem is that when it tries to boot nothing happens and all I get is
a black screen with a flashing cursor. Have I burned the cd incorrectly or what could have gone wrong?
Please help this is quickly driving me insane.

When you burned the ISO, did you use a burning program that allows you to specify "Burn image" or "Burn ISO" as one of the choices?

When you look at the CD under windows, do you get one huge file with the suffix .iso, or do you get a list of directories and files?
