wifi wpa noob: which packages to install and how to setup a wpa?

Hi,

I can setup wpa with windows, but concerning linux, that another story.

1/how to check first that the wifi has the drivers to be working?

2/Which packages and bin file would you recommand to make it as easy as in windows, with gui ?

(I can command line, but that will be more difficult no ?)
