Wifi stop working after updating to Debian 8
Hello,
I have the problem since i upgrade to debian 8 lastweek My Wifi stop working, nm can not detect my wifi (was working normally on wheezy). I did try following (im running jessie on my IBM r50E laptop) disable the pci wifi (BIOS setup) remove driver reinstall the driver/firmware ipw2200 reenable the hardware (BIOS) doesn't change situation. I also trying to use USB wifi dongle (RTL8188), but same situation, network manager applet doesnt detect any wifi connection Thanks.. |
Does wireless work from a Debian 8 "live" DVD/USB?
|
Hi Jeremy,
Thanks to pick up my question. I dont have a live DVD/usb, i'll try to download and prepare it. what to check if it is working with live DVD ? |
It would prove that Debian 8 works (or not) with your wifi and also allow you to download anything you need to re-establish a wifi connection.

^ What HoaS said. You are probably missing some non-free firmware. As described here:
https://wiki.debian.org/ipw2200 |
No, im quite sure i have the correct firmware since it was working normal until i upgraded to Jessie.
I tried to remove and reinstalled the firmware, doesnt change the situation Regards |

wow, unable to load firmware.
I checked /lib/firmware Code:
suryo@R50e:/lib/firmware$ ls |
did i make mistake on the upgrade procedure ?
I got the upgrade using apt-get update, apt get install |

Code:
# apt-get update Code:

EDIT: @HMW -- Snap! :D You can check if your upgrade procedure from wheezy to jessie (if this is what you did) was correct by reading the official release notes: https://www.debian.org/releases/stab...rading.en.html |
