Lightbulb WiFi on Knoppix 7.00 7.60 and UBUNTU 14.04.3 from CD/DVD LIVE

Hi I am trying to work on 3 different computers, they comply with full requirements, all of them with Ralink 148f -7601 USB WiFi adaptors, I would please appreciate a guide on how to be able and use the wifi straight from the live CD/DVD, without any kind of installation.
The systems are Knoppinx 7.00 , another Knoppix 7.60 and the last one Ubuntu 14.04.3
As a hint, for example, on the 7.00, it doesn't even list the USB card, if you need to be cruel and tell me to use the 7.60, and guide me through it, please go ahead, as 7.60 is the latest, and the ubuntu 14.04.3 is the latest, in a different flavour, as well.
Thanks in advance for your help.

follow the instruction for knoppix, too?
So far I know, a Knoppix live USB could be better: perhaps you can save the changes made on the USB? (I never tried to save changes of drivers; this is just a guess).

Welcome to the forum

I have no idea about the latest of version of Knoppix, but starting in Ubuntu 5.10 (and kernel version 4.2,) this adapter is supported "out of the box," according the page floppy_stuttgart linked to.

On Ubuntu 14.04, as mentioned in the same link, you simply need to open a terminal and run these commands one at a time...

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:thopiekar/mt7601
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mt7601-sta-dkms
Be sure to have some kind of internet connection when doing this. Also, it may or may not work without rebooting, I'm not sure. You would need to try it.
