Wifi hotspot using wifi connection in ubuntu 14.10,

I know that there is an option to start a wifi hotspot on Ubuntu when you are connected to the wired network. But when I want to use my wifi connection as a hotspot, Ubuntu asks me to disconnect from my wifi and then create a hotspot, which is of no use.
If you have ever heard about the software called Connectify Hotspot, I want to use that functionality in ubuntu 14.10.

Is there any way to do that? i am excited to know about that :D

When it asks you to disconnect from WiFi are you actually connected to Wifi at the time?

What you want to do is share your wired connection through linux wifi, is that correct?

There are ways to do that directly but from the conectify web page it is a router. You could go one step farther and create a virtual machine of a linux firewall (untangle maybe) and use it to protect your wifi to wired connection.

thegwer yes I am connected to my wifi at the time and JEFRO yes your assumption is correct but can you please send me some links for doing the firewall thing?

I asked because if you are connected to something via Wi-Fi then your device is tied up and you will not be able to start a hotspot.

I believe the OP would like to use the wifi as a client and an access point at the same time. As far as I know networkmanager is only configured to use ethernet as the client. You should be able to configure as desired via hostapd as described in the links below. It depends on the capability of the wireless adapter but If it works with windows and connectify than it will probably work in linux.
