Wifi card drivers missing

I am looking to dump Windows entirely.

I currently dual boot using Puppy and Windows XP.

I installed Debian KDE desktop.

It is missing drivers for my Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Wifi card.

So, I can't use the Internet on Debian to look for the drivers.

Can someone help me find what I need ?

Best regards,
Andy

Hi,

seems you just need the non-free firmware. See for example https://wiki.debian.org/iwlwifi

However if you don't have some other means (eg wired connection) to get online you might not actually be able to follow those instructions. In that case, download the .deb file using some machine that does have an internet connection and then transfer it your Debian machine using, for example a usb stick. Then install the .deb file. You can find a link to the .deb file at:

https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/firmware-iwlwifi

(I'm assuming you are using Debian wheezy).

Post back if you get stuck and tell us what the problem is.

I had problems for setting up Wi Fi for Linux Mint 13 on my Toshiba Laptop.Leave apart Wi Fi for Virtual Box,Wi Fi was not dected even for Mint 13 OS.
After installing Linux Mint 15 WiFi was automatically detected for Mint 15 and for Guest(win XP) in Virtual Box.
Now I am having Linux Mint 16 having Oracle Virtual Box 4.3.6 r91406.
It works.
