Better yet, search here. This sort of thing is asked all the time and answered. You can also check out the LQ Members Choice Awards. And you can search freshmeat by category.
[*]Alcohol 120% (can copy and burn protected CDs)
cdrecord/xcdroast (protected CDs? I dunno)[*]ClonyXXL (can find the protection type of a CD)
?[*]Corel Photo Paint (Graphics)
Gimp[*]Corel Draw (Graphics)
Gimp[*]Typing Master (Practice tiping on the keyboard)
I forget - there is something.[*]CoolEdit (Editing Sounds)
? - maybe audacity?[*]Winamp (plaing MP3s)
xmms[*]Windows/Total Commander (Disk explorer (something like Windows Explorer))
endeavour, xfe - konqueror and nautilus if you have them around - dual pane's better[*]Norton Anivirus (AntiVirus protection)
F-Prot[*]Ad-aware (Anti Spy-ware)
?[*]KaZaA/E-donkey (Pear2Pear programs)
?[*]3D Max/Zmodeler (Modeling)
?[*]Adobe Reader
xpdf/gv[*]Borland Delphi (Pascal Programming)
Pascal? I dunno. But vim probably.

If you're looking for the exact app, there aren't a whole lot of apps that run on both systems without wine or dosemu. Most that run on both MS and Linux are DOS-based.

A footnote : You have Adobe reader for linux. You can download it from the adobe web site.

And you don't need any ad-aware programs for linux. You can use the bundled firewall to stop any unwanted programs, and your browser(Mozilla or Konqueror) will by itself reject most ad progs.

No problem. :) Probably. If not google will turn them up. Some should already be on your box unless you did a really minimal install.

Or try getting Wine from here and using those programs from Windoze in Linux

SailingGypsy 02-13-2004 08:21 AM

Go to this site:

http://linuxshop.ru/linuxbegin/win-l...en/table.shtml

It is exactly what you are looking for; a list of software and their Linux equivalent or replacement.
