Wi-Fi with Mandriva

As a Newbie to Linux, I can't get enough of it. I recently change from Ubuntu to Mandriva 2011. I loved it until I got to the point of setting up the Wi-Fi with my BT Router. I have had no previous problems with Ubuntu. It was just a question of locating the icon for the router, and typing in the wireless key, and hey, it worked. I have done the same thing with Mandriva 2011. It locates signal, along with others in the area, and although I type in the wireless key, it comes up with 'log-in failed' message. I have checked that the security level is correct - WPA/WPA2, and there is not much else I can check. The settings for the router remain the same as for previous, and they worked fine with Ubuntu. Has anyone else had this problem?

What network manager does Mandriva use?

For general ideas: make sure the passkey is exactly correct, make sure any other options you need are set correctly.

I'm not sure what network manager you're on so I don't know exactly what kind of options you have to work with.

If all else fails you could try a different network manager like wicd, which I have never had an issue with connecting to WPA1/2 networks. Or handle it with the command line via WPA_supplicant.

No Wi-Fi with Mandriva

Thanks Jenni for your reply. Well, I shut down the computer, and after asking for help, I re-booted it, and hey, it now works. I know that this can often be the case with things like this, but I'd already given up in disgust a couple of times previously, and a re-boot did not do the trick. Anyway, it seems okay now, but I don't know why.

Thanks for your interest anyway

Huh that's odd, well hope it keeps working. Good luck.
