Wi-Fi displaying the ESSID but yet No Access Point !!

Hey people,
actually i could see the essid iwlist wlan0 scan , but still no Access Point is there and Quality Signal 0/100

here are the output of some of my commands , that i have alraedy tried , it would be of assistance to you ,

linux-qzyt:/home/fedexpress # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

wlan0 RT61 Wireless ESSID:"K-Hostel" Nickname:""
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Bit Rate=54 Mb/s
RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Encryption keyff
Link Quality=0/100 Signal level:-121 dBm Noise level:-111 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

eth0 no wireless extensions.

What should be done further!!!

Make sure you run "ifconfig wlan0 up".

try something like iwconfig wlan0 channel 1 key off essid "K-hostel"
