Wi Fi Canon printer, Model MG5220 - print jobs get "HELD"
Hey guys I'm a new to linux, more to learn than 50 yr old brain cells can handle.
I started with distro 13.10 and am now using 14.04.
I think my computer can connect to my wifi printer, a Canon MG5220 but print jobs get to the que and after a few seconds get "HELD", I can try to start them again but after a few seconds the same que says "HELD".
I searched some here and on the web and have come up empty. Anyone have an idea what I may have configure wrong?

I'm old enough to be your father. Try another excuse.

Are you talking about Ubuntu or something else?

What makes you think that your printer is connected? and are you using CUPS?

Have you tried printing a test page from the CUPS webpage? (localhost:631)

jdkaye,
I was reffering to Ubuntu 13.10 and 14.04.
I think my computer connects because I can ping the IP address and get a good response. Since my last post I went into my wifi router and assigned an IP address to the printer mac address.
The CUPS webpage shows my printer and I can send it a test page but after a few seconds I get:
Canon-MG5200-26 Test Page anonymous 1k 1 held since Sun 25 May 2014 03:57:25 PM MDT"cannot get hostname".
dkaye nudged me in the correct direction by telling me to look at the hostname issue.
I also read through the documentation @ https://help.ubuntu.com/14.04/ubuntu...s-connect.html.
Sometime you can't let the system find your printer!
Using this path: System Settings- Printers- Add New Printer- Network Printer- Find Network Printer- Network Printer- Host: <my wifi printer ip address>. I was able to connect to my printer. Yes... even my none admin account can print. It really was this simple shake the head and rub the balled spot. It was crazy because (I believe this is how it went) I had a print job stuck in "HELD", I went back and entered the IP address, looked like I was still in "HELD" hell, went upstairs to stare at the printer and was getting ready to say the hell with it....the printer started & printed a Ubuntu Printer test page. I have printed a couple of other docs just to verify, even printer tonight.
Well done! As a service to others please mark this thread as [SOLVED]. You can use the Thread Tools menu located above your first post in this thread (see the attachment).
