Why won't linux download rute tutorial as pdf ?
 

I would like to download the tutorial I am working through on this site:

The download is a tar that I must extract. I would just like the pdf to study how to work linux when wifi does not work.

After extracting, I checked package manager, there is nothing there. I extracted to downloads. Was I supposed to extract to etc?

This is a easy process in Win which I dual boot. Is there a way to create a unified pdf in Linux?

For one thing, that .gz contains an HTML page, not a PDF. For another, downloaded HTML pages can be used with no Internet connection. And for another thing, what do you mean, "checked the package manager"?

Did you happen to notice the copyright date, 2003? I don't know how much it will help you with wireless.

The tar file you download is html so using html2pdf, check your package manager for whichever Linux you are using. You may need to install it. You should also be able to do it in Libre Office.

And also, checking further, if you use Firefox, you can access the page and then click the separate link to the PDF.

I also agree with Yancek. This stuff (except permanent Linux commands and such) is way out of date, with floppies, tape backup!, IDE, serial devices, and modems. A lot of this is outdated.

Rute is very old, but still a useful introduction to many technical things, as you can see from the on-line version. If you want a pdf, use this link

I thought if I downloaded the raw files, linux package manager would then show them in the program list and I could somehow get the pdf from there.

The link in rute is for the pdf file. Was that a mistake?

This link accesses IIS, a web service for programmers. I do not see the rute pdf here.

Correct, which means it isn't available at that location any longer. Did you go to the link posted above by DavidMcCann? The pdf file can be downloaded from there.

The package manager doesn't have anything to do with it.
Downloaded PDFs are not installed, nor managed by the package manager.
