Why won't wine work after comiling.?

Hi all..

True Linux Newbie here.

I have downloaded the Source Code for WineX from CVS.. *Currently the only way to get WineX* without paying the money but I have never gotten Wine to work when I have downloaded the latest build from winehq.com

am I just not holding my breath long enough while compiling.. It seems that lots of things I complile Fail for one reason or another.. Missing this or that.. I wish I was smart enough to figure out what failed...

also are there any PLAIN English Websites over LINUX? you know like
I read in several places.. do this and that with this.. and then run ldconfig.

sometimes I see this must be done as root and sometimes there is no information as to what mode *IE: Root or normaluser* That something can be done..

I guess what I am trying to say is that I am looking for a website written so simple that even a RETARD like myself can comprehend. What is going on :) Anyway.. my Error with wine is as follows:

wine: error while loading shared libraries: libntdll.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Thanks for anyhelp

You did configure it? - Right?
You might want to try winesetuptk for that if you didn't.

Forgive me.... Like I said Complete Linux newbie here..

What is winesetuptk... And where to get it?

Thanks! again..

Sorry - kind of didn't see the you being a newbie part.
Since I don't have a distro with rpm system installed all I can tell you is to look at google for 'winesetuptk rpm'.
But don't hope for any wonders - wine is flaky at best and some apps work with that and not with the other version.
Good luck

see thats the problem with the CVS scrpits.....they are mainly used for beta testing and are sometimes unreliablable at best. if you want stability there is no avoiding the 5 buck a month fee for useing wine.

Yeah, this is why people pay for wineX and CrossOver. The Wine CVS builds are for developers only really, you will almost certainly have problems with them unless you have the patience of a saint and are willing to learn a lot very quickly.

What are you guys talking about?
Version 20030115 is cvs now?Did you hear about calendars?Plus I was sayng that emule 26b works with 20030115 - it sure as ^%$& doesn't work with stable - whatever thats supposed to be - don't know about cvs but that would be something from at least february I suppose..
Stability and wine in one sentence is at best contradictonary.
