Why won't my Xubuntu partition load?
 

So last night, I migrated my Wubi installation of Xubuntu over to it's own 80GB partition using unetbootin partitionmanager and the Loopmounted Virtual Partition Manager. all appeared okay until I tried to boot Xubuntu last night via the grub menu, and I was greeted with error 17 - cannot mount selected partition.

After doing some reading around, I discovered that if I press 'e' on the grub menu I can check the path and make sure it is loading the correct partition. It showed me that it was trying to load my Ubuntu kernel from hd0, 0, which is my Windows XP Home Edition partition. Naturally, I renamed it to hd0,1, and it loaded the Xubuntu boot screen- but then went to another prompt screen displaying Sysbox v1.1.3 or something like that, and I don't know a) why this is happening and b) how to get out and just head to Xubuntu.

Once I'm in Xubuntu, I believe there is a way I can edit my grub menu so it routes correctly on start up?

So, in essence:

1) Why is it going to Sysbox instead of Xubuntu?
2) How do I get out and go to Xubuntu?
3) Once in Xubuntu, what do I need to do to edit my list and make sure it boots properly in future?
4) Do I *have* to use grub? Can I not just make it show my Xubuntu OS on the regular boot screen- it used to be this way when I was using my wubi installation.

Sysbox or busybox?

If it's busybox, did you see some message about not being able to mount the root partition?
Some entries in the /etc/fstab file need to be changed. To do this, just use the 'vi' editor available via busybox. Alternatively, you can boot from any Live CD you wish to boot from, mount your xubuntu partition, and edit fstab.

It's definitely Sysbox.
