why will it only mount read only


hi there i've just installed slackware as a duel boot and when i boot into slackware and mount my NTFS windows drive it mounts as read only i've umounted it and then mounted it again edit the /etc/fstab file to incude rw in the options but i still can't get it to mount as read/write can someone tell me how to do this?

The NTFS driver can't do rw properly yet. The latest version can edit files, but its not what you would call full functionality. I think it's best off just mounting ro, and if you really need it have a small FAT or VFAT partition for moving files between the OSes

I dont know if this is the case anymore but NTFS writing is still experimental and writing to NTFS can cause file system problems. I may be wrong...I hardly mount ntfs anymore .

Perhaps the Captive project is worth investigating.
