If you are using Linux, what is reason its? Why do you use Linux?
I use it, but I don't know why I'm using it Most people uses Linux, and I wonder why they use this operation system..
Well, What distributions do you suggest? I'm using ubuntu for programming.. do you suggest it?
Sure. Ubuntu is OK I guess. It is like asking why I like redheads with freckles and green eyes , instead of blue eyed blondes or grey eyed Brunettes or Black Haired brown eyed beauties.
You can program with any Linux distro. Use what you like and fell comfortable snuggling up to. You can look left at my
what I run to see what suits me.

The title of this thread is different to the actual OP.
Why should you use Linux? you shouldn't if you don't want to but you should give it a try if you do want to. Simple as that.
Why do I use it? because it is reliable and I like the variety, I like not having to rely on extras just to keep my system safe. It does what I want. Simple as that.
I am using it cause after 18 years of windows pc repair services I wanted a new challenge, and I don't like the direction windows is going with 8, I mean it reminds me of a damn McDonalds cash register... way to dumb things down for the masses, micro$oft...

When Linux was born, UNIX license were expensive for individuals. Slackware came along and I started using the OS never looking back for a PC OS. Look at: Linux Kernel Interactive Map

Most people? That would be nice but unfortunately Gnu/Linux is not used by most computer users. Unless you count servers that people access, Linux is on more servers then ever before.

I would think your happiness depends on the style of answers received.

Not really related but only reason I still have windows is because of "Gaming", I don't think windows have any advantage over linux other than gaming.
Linux :
Faster, more reliable, secure, freedom, free (not necessarily), variety, customization, understanding of working of an OS, great community and much more.
