Why my default java vesion is not upgraded?
Hi friends,
I installed jsdk1.4.1.07 package on Red Hat 9,but on typing java -version I am getting the older jsdk1.3 as version which is inbuilt in Red Hat 9.I cant understand why.Help me.

Probably because the java binary of the older version comes first in your $PATH variable.

echo $PATH
and make sure the location of the newer java version comes before the location of the old version.

also to try out: which, whereis and locate (all with `java' as an argument).

Also also to try out: reading `smart questions'--
