Why is Linux so slow over CenturyLink?
My Linux boxes (Sony TV, Fedora14, etc) are SLOW while accessing the internet. I ran Speedtest.net. Here are the results:
OS/Browser Down (Mbps) Up (Mbps)
Win7/IE9 16.49 0.75
Fed14/FF5 0.85 0.01
Android/Dolphin 7.5 0.802
My ISP is CenturyLink. The DSL modem is PK5000Z.
Can anyone tell me what is going on? CenturyLink has been no help.

Some network configuration setting could be wrong. Could you try the speed test while running on a bootable LiveCD ?

Tried live Fedora 14 CD - same problem. Tried live Fedora 17 CD - problem is gone. I guess it's time to upgrade.
