Be gentle with me. This is first post.
Some time back I installed the newest upgrade from the update window. It has some features I am not exactly fond of but I have learned to live with. Onw, however, is very upsetting. I can't get any videos to play from online sourses like youtube or facebook. Do I need to install some sort of player from the software center to make it work again?

hmm, you probably need to install the flash player, did you ever install the restricted extras?
try at a desktop, hit alt-f2 type in 'gnome-terminal', click run
at the prompt type
when prompted enter your password (you will see nothing when you type, this is normal, just type your password and hit enter)
if you havn't installed it will ask you yes/no do you want to install it, type y or yes and hit enter
wait
then when you get back to a prompt (looks like user@user-desktop:~$ ) simply type exit and hit enter, then re-start firefox and see what happens.

Youtube and most online players use adobe flash. It is likely you have to install the newest release of Adobe Flash for your version of Linux.
