Question Why does RHEL5 boot to a blank screen and unresponsive keys on my HP DV6000?

I am new to Linux. I made my HP DV6000 into a single boot system. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 64bit.

I have been trying every cure I can find on the internet. I can seem to find the problem. My monitor show's everything on the screen as it's booting but then, when it's done, it goes blank and no keys/buttons work.

I have it on the GNU GRUB screen right now. (The monitor is working fine (on this screen).

Thank you for any help!

Hi new person

a few things first
RHEL 5 point something ???? is the older version
the current version in the 5 series is 5.6 with 5.1 about 3 years old
RHEL 6.1 is the current .

Also red hat IS NOT FREE you MUST buy a license and with that you can get tech support
http://www.redhat.com/support/

also rhel was NEVER intended for very new users . Seeing as it's main function is running headless servers ,no gui ,and everything in the terminal ( text ONLY) .
With the use of a desktop as an afterthought .

also a lot of new programs will NOT work in the older 5 series
so do not expect to use firefox4

this ??
GRUB>>

you installed the bootloader in the wrong spot
reinstall it
this ( yes very old - mentions win 98) how to will work for rhel5
http://www.sorgonet.com/linux/grubrestore/
or one here on this site
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...around-652158/

i am betting that there was a hidden small "recovery" partition the OEM put on the drive that is messing things up

--------------
with all this said about rhel then this
PAY FOR IT it is not free !!!!!!!!!!!
OR DO NOT USE IT !!!!!

unless you NEED rhel or the free version CentOS
i would recommend you use something different
MintLinux is a good choice

and staying in ( well near) the red hat family
there is OpenSUSE 11.4 or the NOT FREE "SELD 11 " from novell
