Why cinnamon is crashing ?

I have sucesfully installed linux mint (ubuntu 64 bit) in virtualbox but when i start the machine,my Linux comes up with message "software rendering mode".I had allocated vedio memory 128 MB and as suggestion from other forums I enabled the 3D acceleration but after boot up,the desktop would go black and a message is appearing telling me that Cinnamon had crashed and running in Fallback mode. What to do to fix both problems?
I am running cinnamon 17.2 version.
RAM allocated to machine=3072 MB
Hard disk=20GB

Welcome to LQ.

Generally speaking, a lot of software rendering problems arise with using Cinnamon and it is advisable to use either MATE or Xfce instead.
