Why can't I use my TDK DVD Burner?

I have a TDK CD burner (which is detected w/out problems) and I have a TDK 420N DVD+RW burner, but that isn't detected at all. I am running Slackware 9.1 (I previously used SuSE 9 and my DVD burner was detected and it worked in there so I know it is possible) and I just can't figure out how to get this thing working, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably need to pass scsi emulation at bootup but I'd say solve your lilo problem in one of your other threads before tackling this issue, as the argument you need to pass is done in lilo, etc.
