Why are my headphone jacks not working, older Dell inspiron 560 running linux mint sarah
If someone could please point me to a thread that will help, Im using an older dell inspiron 560 running mint sarah. Headphone jacks are not putting out anything. speakers work with other devices.
struggling thanks in advance.
It sounds as if it's broke. It's unlikely to help, but you could try blowing out the port with compressed air.
I would suggest booting to a Live CD of something not Ubuntu-related and testing. If the jacks still do not work, I'm sorry to have to say that the probability is that it's a hardware problem.
Also, what ardvark71 said (I came to this thread from the "New Posts" link and did not notice that it was in the "Intro" forum).
I have the same question as rtmistler. I have a similar issue where my new Mint 18.1/RealTek ALC892 don't seem to be working together (no sound out the Line-Out port). PulseAudio sees it as does the system but no sound.
