Why and What is the best" Motion" or "ZoneMinder" for motion detection?

Hello,
Motion or ZoneMinder? Which Is the best and why?
About the methodology of detection in both, do you know the methodology used in each? I asked in motion mailing list and I get the methodology of motion but I need to know the one of ZoneMinder.
And what is the most perfect motion detection methodology is being followed.

I hope someone interesting help me in details, please.

Can't help, but i never heard of ZoneMinder, so thanks for the info ;).

I use motion from time to time, and although the config is not "out-of-the-box", it works pretty well.

I have looked at and installed zoneminder. Then I unistalled it. I instead went with motion. I saw zoneminder as overkill for my needs.

I just wanted motion detection on multiple "internet cams" on my wireless network. I configured motion just to save event frames to a file structure, and not much else. I wrote my own viewer using php. I wanted lightweight as this server has to do other tasks.

Zoneminder seemed too complicated for my needs. It required a MySQL database and that right out was a killer for me. I am sure zoneminder is a very powerful application, but I did not want something that would consume my server.
