Who is going to be patient with me..?

I'm a brand new baby to linux Suse. I need someone (or more than one) to be patient with me and reply to all my questions in a simple straightforward way that I can understand!
Right off my first (and biggest) problem is getting my PC to play my DVD's (commercial ones mainly)- "TOTEM" the thing that opens when I try to play one, always tells me that I need to install extensions and plug-ins, and when I click "OK" takes me to a page with Windows Media Center!
What am I supposed to do?
I've managed to "create a DVD" which will only play back on my PC and not on my traditional DVD player, but watch my commercial DVD's - HOW....?
(I did say - be patient with me!)

see this link --- How to play videos in openSUSE.

After following those instructions, if have any problems then post here.

a simple suggestion, don't put such thread title. mention topic like "video's problem ... error strings ...etc".

I'm running "Gnome" - or more precisely, "Gnome" is running me!
