Which Live Cd is best for manipulation of partitions

Hi all,
I am looking for a live cd that will be able to mount my XP NTFS partition, and that will be able to mount my usb external drive. I am basically looking for the live cd with the best recognition of hardware; with the least amount of effort, on my part, to get it working. Any recommendations would be great.
Thanks.

Knoppix ? Knoppix has good hardware recognition. And it's just a good live-cd, probably my favorite !

Hum? I suspect that puntjuh is probably right, knoppix hardware detection is pretty damned good.

though as you entitled the thread about partition manipulation I'd also suggest that you plugged in the various bits i.e. the USB drive etc etc and then booted gparted I suspect that it'd do the job much better as partitioning is what it's all about.

regards

John

You can also try SimplyMepis or PCLinuxOS. I am using this two distro and I am very satisfied with them when it comes to hardware detection...

by the way, SimplyMepis and PCLinuxOS both have Live CDs...

gpart is probally the best portion editor i have found. You can download it as a stand alone live cd, but i know the version i nthe ubuntu 6.10 live cd will actually allow you to edit partitions while loged into XP. so long as you have additional partitions that XP is not currently using
