Consider trying ArtistX. It is based on Ubuntu. It is designed for multimedia production, but there is a lot of other stuff that comes with it including games and educational software. If I ever get bored I know that I can pop that disk in and will probably never run out of new programs that I haven't tried yet. Just to warn you though, in my experience everything does not work 100% out of the box.
