Which distro??

Hey guys, as with most people looking to move to Linux, I'm wanting away from Windows and its associated BS.

I have a pretty new machine and I'm a HDD and another case away from having a 2nd PC - on which I was going to install Red Hat 9, but after hearing about several other distros, I'm not certain which would best suit. I wouldn't consider myself incompetent with such stuff....but then again I'm still with M$.

I enjoy trying to figure things out/play with things, but hearing a new virus is doing the rounds every other week is becoming tiring (and being on the receiving end of it)!!!!

Thanks in advance

Well, If you want a disto with easy installation and good GUI by default, I suggest eithe RH 9 or Mandrake version 9.2. Both are easy to install and come with most of the programs that a newbie needs to get going.
