Which distribution is better?
Hi,
I'm switching to Linux and am interested to be proficient in it. Which distribution do you recommend me to start with? I'm looking for one that enable me to learn rather than just plug and play blindly. Thanks! Esael |
One answer, Slackware or Debian if you really want to learn.
Check out the distro forum, this is asked all the time. |
please take the time and effort to try to find things like this for yourself. this gets asked day in day out and is more frustrating to read each time as there are VAST amounts of information about this on this site alone is you just try to search a little.

yes but a newbie to the site would hardly know that. while it needs to be told, a kinder tone would be good.

LOL i asked this like 2 weeks ago and got shouted at.
Most people said Slackware on my post, so thats what i am runnin. VERY GOOD if u wanna learn, put it that way. |
I've been a slacker since 1995 .... OK I been a slacker since 1955, and a Slacker since 1995 :)
My answer is if you have to asked then use Redhat or Mandrake, it does the best job of seeing devices like sound and video cards. The question is what do you want to use it for? To replace Windows? Or learn Unix/Linux administration? Or because you friends use it? That being said, if the orginal poster had taken 10 minutes to click back threw older post, he/she would have seen that this question is asked (it seem like) every day. |
yeah, :), be cool, like a Penguine, :D
