which dist. to install on old machine?

I am interested in installing linux on an old laptop and I was curious which distrubtion people would recommend -

I have an old NEC laptop which I bought in 1997 with 16.0MB RAM and a HD with 1.3 GB,

one vote for slack, w/ a custom install tailored around your needs. have a look at this
