which database program to study under the linux os?

hi guys! i am new to linux and i am thinking what database program is the best to study under linux environment? currently i used microsoft access to create simple programs. are there alternative that is also free like linux?thanks

Open Office is free and is a word processing suite that has all the same programs that windows office has, including one like Access and a spread sheet like eXcel. Do a google search for it.
