You can use any character you want, however.....

It would be wise not to use special characters because this might make handling these file more difficult. I would limit the characters used to:
0-9
A-Z (or international equivalent: À Á etc)
a-z (or international equivalent: é ê etc)
_-.

Advice: Keep it simple as possible, only use letters, numbers, underscore (_) and dash (-) and AVOID using spaces.
