Unhappy whic linux distro would be best for me ?


Guy plz help me to chose right linux os for me.
I have a 3 year old laptop which configure are :
processor: intel pentium (R) 1600 Mhz or 1.6 ghz
Ram : 512
motherboad : intel
so which linux distro perfect for my old laptop?

I see that you have experience with Ubuntu. Lubuntu is probably as good as any to try. Though, I would advise you to try several distros. The easiest away to try the distros are by using a Live USB or Live CD/DVD.Try several and find which works best for you.

a laptop that is ONLY 3 years old with a Pentium cpu and ONLY 512 meg ram ????

you might have gotten it 3 years ago BUT --- when was it manufactured in 2005 ?

if you can not upgrade to 1 gig or 2 gig of ram

have a look at using something like "antix"

but you might get away with using the xfce desktop on Mint 13 LTS

Thanks guy for your quick reply. Acctually i am little worry about RAM space in my laptop and i can not even upgrade this because it is so rare to find this type of ram in moder world. So i nee a distro which must be installed with in 512 ram. I hope you got understand.

You can try every distro witch xfce or lxde desktop.

Yeah, vendors are using Pentium and Pentium-D chips in their new low cost laptops. I think I could still find at least one at Best Buy if I were to actually set foot in that junk store and look.
