whereis netmonitor, wanda , on rh9.0?

finally got rh7.3 to work (dual-head xinerama, recompiled kernel for scsi emulation, winmodem working, all in just under a year with much assistance from reading this site) on my dual boot system, but after recent winxp upgrade/crash had to reinstall and managed to screw up and lose everything. 7.3 media no good, had to try 9.0. now i can't find how to turn on the internet connection, or how to tell what's going on with it if indeed it is already on as the internet connection configuration program seems to be telling me. (i can turn it off from there, but it's a pain in the neck). and where did my wanda the gnome-fish go? can "fortunes" and/or the internet connection applets be transferred from the 7.3 to the 9.0 somehow? or am i missing something?
