Question Where to start

HELP!

I am a very new linux user. I have RH9 and it is installed. I have a domain (frbillkessler.us) and DynDNS routes it to my DHCP Broadband access. I need to find some resource how to go from here. I would really like to setup a server for WWW/FTP/and Mail. What is a good beginners resource? I have no ability with linux other than to install it... Extreme Newbie. Any help would be appreciated.

Peace,

Fr. Bill Kessler

The best place to start will be Red-Hat's webiste. They have RH 9.0 documentation that will help you with running httpd and ftpd and setting up the server. Next, you can visit apache's webiste and read up on the web server. It can be pretty in-depth, but if all you are looking to do is host a site it should be pretty simple. That is where I would start.

Welcome Fr. Bill -

in addition I'd recommend these great free resources:

The Linux Doc. Project:
http://www.tldp.org/

Rute User's Guide:
http://www.icon.co.za/~psheer/book/index.html.gz

Linux Cookbook:
http://www.tldp.org/LDP/linuxcookboo...k.html#SEC_Top

and of course this site - ask away.

good luck
