Where to put rpm's

I've been trying out fedora core 3 on my laptop, my current task is to get the wireless LAN going. But something that stuck me was where should I put the rpm's. At the mo I bung them in the home dir but is there a better/recommended place when all accounts on the system could get at them?

this is the path that a normal user wil look up to find a binary
[gaurav@gaurav gaurav]$ env|grep PATH
PATH=/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/gaurav/bin
