either cp your bzImage to /linux.vesafb
or configure grub to: kernel /boot/linux.vesafb"

Hmm...puzzling, ok....I repeat the steps, assuming that I have already make the linux.vesafb and cp the bzImage to /boot

1) cd /usr/src/linux
2) make modules
3) make modules_install
4) reconfig grub to:
kernel /boot/linux.vesafb

sorry, I cannot find that readme file. I'm using RH Linux 8.
