where to begin

im a real newbie and have mandrake8.1 working but i want to learn about linux where can i begin .

there r alot fo furoms talking about that kind of information we all need

u will find alot of sites for that

Read, browse the internet and, read some more, then browse the internet, then read some more... check out the search function here. with over 85,000 posts, i am sure its been done asked here, lots of info.
ask questions here or other places when the time comes and you can't figure something out, wondering about something and we'll see how we can help you.

were also working on a glossary here on the site which is going to be helpful also...

Running Linux by O'Reily is a great book to start with. I have been using linux for about 6 months now and still refer to it quite often.
