Where is your Application?

let say u installed amarok.rpm
after installation,
how to know where is it installed so that u can go there to run it?

Try the following in a terminal:
which amarok
It checks your path and returns the first location it finds the binary (which will be the one that runs unless you use an absolute path). This assumes that the binary gets installed in a path entry. If it's installed in a non-standard location you can use an absolute path to run it, or add that directory to your PATH.

Otherwise there are package management tools that allow you to see where everything gets put.

Most rpms install link in /usr/bin directory, you can probably run it from there or just type "amarok" in console.
Program libraries are mostly in /usr/lib.
Or you can unpack rpm with ark or something and look it`s contents, during installation all files are copied cording this structure
