Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

The author of the book Im learning from uses Red hat 7.3 and in the book there is a chapter about Xconfigurator.By typing Xconfigurator and pressing enter the program should start, but it doesn't.
Gone. The the XFree was not compatible with it. They replaced it with
redhat-config-xfree86
It disappeared in Redhat 8.0. I lot of things changed in 8.0. Below is a list that replaces a lot in 8.0/9.0
hi
Darn-I asked the author if different linux versions will cause any problems and he said no...now this!?
Can there be found short tutorial on xfree86?
Can you also tell me what replaced dhcpcd?
while we are at it..can you tell me what this syntax means-
red hat-config-xfree86?
Im a bit confused here.Xfree86 is a X server and xfree86 is a program that can configure Xfree86's configuration file?Or are they one and the same thing?
I could find tutorials on Xfree86 server, but not on xfree86 configuration tool(if they indeed different entities)
You mean those 3 ISO files you can download from Red hat's official we b site?I'm trying to download them for some time now...but link seems to be broken
It's a downloaded version.I'm trying to download documentation also, but in the middle of transfer I always get connection broken..that is when links even work...i will keep on trying though
