where is the problem?

echo -n "dose to onoma xristi : "
read username
while [ \( -z $username \) -o \( $username \) ]; do

echo "0 an metanioses"
echo -n "den edoses onoma xristi :"
read username

if [ "$username" = "0" ]; then
exit 0

i can not see! i can't find it! it doesn't work

I'm crap at shell scripting. I know next to nothing. Could you explain what the line:
while [ \( -z $username \) -o \( $username \) ]; do
does? Specifically the bit between [].
Also, how isn't it working? It's running certainly - I tried it.
