Where is the disconnect between cron jobs and printer

I am running Trusty with a setup that has daily cronjobs that were printing just fine until a week ago. I can see active cronjobs are running using
Code:
root@192.*.*.226
. The print setup is through CUPS where I can see it says idle but somewhere in between the two, I am getting a connection failure of some sort. I have tried removing and reinstalling the printer, restarting the job, overriding the dns server at the printer, pinging the server all with no results. I new to this and could really use a push in the right direction. ANY help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the cron and cups logs to see that particular job actually ran or looked for errors?
Does printing from an application work?
Does printing from the command line work?

I am not sure what happened last week. I was getting emails of the logs but they stopped along with the actual printing. I'm not sure what you mean by trying last command. I barely know much about this service and printing the man pages doesn't really reveal a lot of information as far as syntax and commands. I also do not know how to get to cron logs. After signing in I can read emails sent to cron which essentially say connection failure but don't specify where. CUPS logs do generate but they don't seem related to what is going on at the server. It mainly has logs of what is going on at the printer with me uninstalling and reinstalling the printer. And yes I am able to print from my desktop. I have not tried printing from command line but will today.

Posting the exact error in the cron email might help.
Is the cron job running on the desktop or server? Post your network configuration.

cron logs are in /var/log/syslog
