where is my cursor on the console

ok i was messing around with the setterm and trying to get it to my specifications, i don't remeber turning off the cursor and now i can't turn it back on, when type setterm -cursor on it makes a new prompt below as if it executed the command successfully and then no cursor comes up..... i don't get it on my other linux box this works fine no problem is there something i missed in the man pages. I have looked in /etc/init ,/etc/rc*, /home/user_name/.bash_profile and .bashrc, /root/.bashrc when i was using setterm i did use -store but i tried that again... its something small and stupid but its a pain to edit configs with no cursor.......... any ideas

Sometimes the terminal gets upset with something
you do (e.g. cat a binary) - in those cases typing
reset commonly gets the cursor back.
