Where Has My SCIM disappeared to?


I have already installed SCIM (via synaptic package manager)but it doesnt appear and I cant use it.

This is what happens when I type scim in my terminal

c@c-laptop:~$ scim

scim.. the program for foreign character input?

if that's it i've always used ibus.. i think i remember reading somewhere that scim was written in such a way that it was basically a dead project and that it can only be maintained for so long.

i've never tried scim, i've always used ibus, so you could try that, but that doesn't really answer your question.

i haven't had other languages installed for a while so i can't exactly give you a step by step, but a quick google search gave back some good results. this is assuming you're using ubuntu.

Help!

I installed ibus as well as scim already but whenever I press ctrl+space or alt+shift nothing happens.

I can only type english.
