Where do Installed programs go?
K, I just try to install Xmule, I want to get a filesharing program up since I have no clue how to do Binary Newsgroups in linux yet.
ANways, I am not sure if Xmule even got installed, but was wondering what happens when I do the final command 'make install"?
where does the program go? how do I access it?
tahnks for any help

To run the program just type "xmule" (no quotes). To find type "whereis xmule" also look in /usr/bin/xmule.

Thanks bro, That really helps. Guess i did not isntall Xmule, I am still having a problem with this compiling thing and making. Thanks for your help again

when you do a 'make install' the bits go where the Makefile directs it, which is usually /usr/local or /usr, but really the program, and indeed libraries can go anywhere.
If you want to know where things end up install the GNU locate program and run 'updatedb' from time to time, then you can type 'locate Xmule' and will be shown a list of files that are called Xmule, or at least have 'Xmule' in their filename or pathname.

how to configure PS1 and PS2 permanently?
