If you want it as a desktop, then I would recommend moving from CentOS over to Fedora. Fedora is RedHat's desktop platform with an 18mo life cycle that keeps up to date much better and uses more current applications. Example is Chrome web browser is no longer officially supported by Google in CentOS due to kernel issues while it is supported in Fedora.
Enjoy and good luck. Play around with it and dont be afraid to break it as you are running in a VM environment. Just make a snapshot before you start messing around. If it breaks, just roll back to your snapshot and you will be golden.
