Where do I do installation?

Hi, I have fedora core 3. I just downloaded several softwares which I would like to use. They are all in rpm format. Could someone please tell me which directory I should put these files before I "rpm" them? Where are they going to get installed?

Thanks

The location of the rpm files themselves usually is not very important. I always put them in one location altogether for easier management.

If you want to know where they are going to install to, try 'rpm -qlp <rpm file name>'

Read something about rpm will help you
