Where do configuration files forWindow Managers exist?
What exactly are window managers? How is it different from KDE, GNOME? Where do configuration files for window managers exist?
|
A Window Manager (WM) is just that. Something that manages how windows and dialogues are displayed on your screen and what they look like. KDE and Gnome are Desktop Environments (DEs). They usually include a default WM but they also have a whole bunch of other crap in them like sound servers, theme managers and whatever else.

And the system config files are usually in /usr/share/$WM or /usr/local/share/$WM and the personal config files are usually in ~/.$WM.
Reading the manual pages, the websites, using 'locate' or 'find', or doing a GUI file search are good ways of finding out these things. |
