I must have missed the memo and was just curious why the Thanks button was removed?

I rather liked the thank system. I was proud of my 100+ thanks. Based on the number of posts that I have, I managed to maintain almost a 10% thanks to post ratio. I was "thankful" that I managed to help so many people around here.
