There are a lot of convoluted answers one will find out there on the web to answer this question and I have found that they are mostly unnecessary. Here is the extremely simple way I fixed this for myself. I am using openSUSE 11.2 but you can likely do this via your own package manager or even in terminal. In openSUSE, it is as simple as opening YaST > Software > Software Management and search for libxine1-codecs. Install it and allow the system to resolve dependencies. Done.
