Where are pre-compiled kernels in Slackware14 CDRom?

I have checked the /kernels directory of Slackware CDRom for previous versions of pre-compiled kernels (As written in slackbook). But I could not find any!
The content of VERSIONS.TXT is:
These kernels are version 3.2.29
And the contents of /kernels/huge.s is only three files which non of them can be kernel. there are three files and the largest one has 6MB size!
What I did wrong? Where are the kernels?

Hi,

Welcome to LQ!

If you are looking for patches for stable 14.0 then look at http://slackware.oregonstate.edu/sla...-14.0/patches/ which will have; linux-3.2.45/

PV & team provides the patches for stable release. You can follow changes in ChangeLog.txt

Above is for x86_64, same for x86_32.

EDIT: You can find kernel source on the DVD in '/source/k'. Please look at README.TXT in '/source/k'.

Many thanks for reply. I need kernel 2.6 for a program compilation. In Select kernel section of slackbook (Section 4.2, Selecting a kernel) it tells about pre-compiled kernels that you can use beside your kernel. And also told that they are under "/kernels" directory.
It sais that the actual kernel image is under "/kernels/(kernel name)/bzImage" I think. But in "/kernels" directory. I see no kernel version there!

Hi,

Kernel source would be in /slackware64-14.0/slackware64/k/.

Why roll back so far to 2.6? You should be able to utilize the .config then roll your own from source;

Slackbook is rather dated. You can still use for references but be aware that latest kernel stable is now 3.10 from https://www.kernel.org/

Slackbook beta: http://slackbook.org/beta/ is still a work in progress. You can use the beta along with the old Slackbook to help with work on Slackware. Slackware® Basics is another useful source.

BTW, slackware64-14.0/kernels/ is the stable Slackware 14.0 release(huge.s default kernel) ;

These kernels are version 3.2.29.
HTH!

Oh, Many thanks. How ever I have downloaded the latest 2.6.
I need the 2.6 Because it still supports the libipquee (I am not sure about spell) I am working on libfindrtp. It stil needs libipquee. libipquee It has been replaced in version 3.2 to another library (I have forgot the new library name)
Thanks. So I have to forget the pre-compiled :)

You could install Slackware 13.37, it uses the 2.6.37.6 kernel, and is still maintained.
